So tonight, since I’d gotten my reading done for class tomorrow, I settled down with my headphones and my book (Sherlock Holmes) for a nice relaxing night. It was not to be so. About a half hour later I realized there was a lot of noise and commotion so I opened the door and people were pouring out of the rooms heading down the hall. I followed suit but the dorm building has a lot of echos and all the shouting was making me deaf. Turns out there was a protest going on and the group came into our building to rally students. I’d been told by both my home university and METU not to join in with any protests so I just stood by the side to watch and see what was going on. I didn’t understand much of what they were shouting, just that they wanted “change” and that they “felt like they were in jail, not university.” But whatever it was, my roomie told me they’re gather again around the president’s office this time Thursday. When they felt they’d shouted enough in our dorm, they moved on and things were quiet again. Well, as much as a dorm can be quiet :P
