I had my world politics class today and we got on the discussion of the Arab/Israel conflict. Or, rather, the teacher accidently opened the can of worms and was obviously greatly regretting it as soon as the words “Arab/Israel conflict” came out of her mouth. I guess I can’t really use the word discussion as much as angry shouting. The whole class erupted in anger against the Jews and the West for supporting them. “The West only supports Israel and helped give it land where it did because it hates Muslims!” At this point many turned to me, knowing I was the only American in the class and I opened my mouth to respond but there was no need or chance because the yelling continued. All Jews believe this, or all Jews do that, was all I could hear. The teacher kept trying to get things under control but it probably took a good part of an hour to do so.
