My Adventures in Paris

I had lots of fun in Paris! :D I got to see the Eiffel Tower and got to the 2nd floor.

Went to the Louvre too! Saw lots of cool things but when the time came for me to leave I couldn’t get out! Lol The museum kept on going and going and never ending!

Saw Notre Dame. Went inside and then stood in line for 2.5 hours to climb to the top. Made friends with a family from England while in line. Then we climbed up, up and up even more to get to the top. You know, I used to think spiral staircases were cool…not anymore lol do you know how hard it is up walk up those things?? And esp. if they’re very small and the top of your foot doesn’t even always fit so you’re hanging on the wall so you don’t fall. Yup. But once at the top it was fun! Got to see the gargoyles and the biggest bell which inspired the Hunchback of Notre Dame story.

Next I went to Orsay. Snuck in a few pictures although no cameras or pictures are allowed. I was doing so well too until the 7th time when I got caught :/  it was interesting to listen to the swirl of conversations around me there. Two girls were talking about how when they finally saw one painting they stood looking at it for a whole hour and couldn’t believe they were seeing it in person. Another two older ladies were looking at a marble statue and were talking about how they’d love to have that marble as a kitchen countertop…lol

Saw Pere Lachaise. That was okay. I was expecting it to be better but it was about a 10min walk from my hotel so I had to see it. Went in the morning to see Les Catacombs. Took forever to get in but finally did! You go down and down into the creepy dark tunnels til you get to the entrance that says “Stop! This is the empire of Death.” It reminded me of LOTR’s “The way is shut. It was made by those who are dead and the dead keep it.”

During my time in line I had made friend with the family in front of me who were from Iowa and one of them was a bone expert. So she would pick out a bone, point it out to us, and tell us all about it. What bone it was, if it was normal or abnormal, what that meant about the person, how old the person was, what gender, etc all from one bone. It made me feel like I had stepped inside an episode of Bones. I now know much much more about bones than I ever did. (which wasn’t much to begin with) The dad, however, was clearly bored and kept trying to scare us by humming the Twilight zone music, breathing like darth vader, and hiding and jumping out randomly. (keep in mind the tunnels are in the dark with small lights randomly throughout) His efforts failed tho cuz the only time we actually got scared was when one of the girls stepped on a drain and it moved, echoing throughout the tunnel, causing her to scream and the rest of us to jump and then laugh.

Afterwards I found Starbucks….i was so happy! Lol I had a strawberry and cream frap <3 and ran into the family I had seen Notre Dame with there. Small world. Then I saw the Church of Saint Jean de Montmartre. Lastly, I saw Sacro Cuore. Very cool. Went inside and then spent some time looking out at the view afterwards. They have some persitant street vendors there! One guy grabbed my arm as I was walking by to get my attention. I kept saying “non!” and shaking my head and walking but he kept trying to get me to come see what he was selling. It was annoying cuz he wouldn’t let go and I kept pulling away so it ending with me dragging him pretty much a whole block before he let go.

I also saw ratatouille when I was there cuz I thought, “What better place to watch it than in Paris!” So cute.

Once I was at the train station to go back to Angers I was trying to figure out how to get to the right train and stopped to ask someone. After I got my answer I turned and my luggage was gone. It was then that I realized I was standing on a sloped floor and my carry on was racing down it singing “I’m free I’m free!” I yelped and gave chase, only catching it after it had crashed into a sign below. People walking past were smirking. Yup…free entertainment’s on me :P
