For desserts here they use sooooo much honey! I think they start out with a little bread and then just let it soak for hours in honey or something..I’ve tried a few desserts and every time I can only eat one or two bites because it feels like I’m just eating honey and nothing else. They like their honey!
The other day I walked into my room and my two roomies from Kazakistan were there and I asked them what they’d been doing and they said “oh we just got done eating soap.” I knew they’d just bought new laundry soap but I was seriously confused. I just stared at them for a moment and said “what?” “yeah we eat soap a lot in our country.” They looked pretty serious so I didn’t think they were joking. “I don’t understand.” One of the girls made a motion like she was drinking soup “you know, soap.” “you mean, soup???” “oooh yeah! That is the word we want. Soup!” lol it was pretty funny as I explained what they had really said and why I had been confused.
